Because of the Reed-Solomon mathematical algorithm, a QR code can be scanned even if it is partially damaged or obscured (up to 30% damage in some cases). This is why you can sometimes see logos in the center of QR codes without breaking them.

Static vs. Dynamic QR Codes

• Static QR Codes: The data is hardcoded into the pattern. They are free, permanent, and don't require a middle-man. (This is what Calcuva generates).
• Dynamic QR Codes: The code links to a redirect server that then sends the user to the final destination. This allows you to track scans and change the URL later, but usually requires a paid subscription.

Best Practices for Printing

1. Contrast is Key: Always use a dark foreground on a light background. Scanning a "negative" QR code (light on dark) is difficult for many apps.
2. Size Matters: Ensure the code is at least 2cm x 2cm for printed materials. The more data you encode (like a very long URL), the denser the pattern becomes, requiring a larger print size to be readable.
3. Test Before You Print: Always scan your generated code with multiple different devices and apps before committing it to a large print run.
